About Me
Why Psychology?
Olga Wojciechowska
I am a social psychologist, Gestalt therapist (in training), and facilitator. I’ve always been very curious about people’s lives, their stories, and motives. Why they would make certain choices or why they behaved the way they did? Why are they all so different?
Realising that I’m a pretty emotional and sensitive human being myself has led me to reflect on the complexity of human nature and psyche a lot. I questioned my emotions and tried to understand where they come from as sometimes I felt they were controlling me and not the other way around! I wasn’t satisfied with simple answers and I’d always dig deeper to find the reasons for my internal conflicts. It was a long time ago and after years of deep personal development work including individual and group therapy as well as professional training, and exploring literature I am in a place where I feel I can share my knowledge and experience with others and support them in their development journey. It doesn’t mean I stopped to learn and grow – as for a psychotherapist it’s a never ending process.
Ever since I can remember I’ve also had an unshakable belief that there is a solution to every problem (well, at least some!). For me, psychotherapy as well as personal development have given me tools that really helped me to find answers to a lot of my problems – I couldn’t say it simpler than that!
Psychology and personal development have become my profession since I graduated from my studies at SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw in 2004.

Well in Warsaw
I found Well in Warsaw in 2022. WiW provides psychological support and personal development (workshops) in English for internationals living in Warsaw, so they feel reinforced even when far away from home.
If you’re reading this I’m guessing you’re not Polish and you chose Poland as a place to live – short or long term. I’d like to share with you my story of living abroad which inspired me to create Well in Warsaw.

Expat Life - Highs And Lows
I was born in Warsaw, but my heart belongs to two countries: Poland and Scotland. I spent 7 years of my life in Edinburgh, my second home.
My Scottish experience wasn’t always sweet and easy (and it wasn’t just due to the weather!); there were times when I found it quite challenging. Life throws different problems at you no matter where you live. But when you live abroad it somehow feels like the issues or concerns have an entirely different context – a bit more challenging and difficult. Just the fact you are far away from your home country, and your long-term relationships with friends, and family can be tough in times like this. Does it sound familiar? Well, it was my story.
I was working a lot and I didn’t have much energy to network and reach out to people, socialise and build relationships. Scottish weather didn’t help and during the long winter months I suffered from depression…Put simply: I found it really difficult to adapt. It may or may not sound like your story, which is absolutely fine. What I’m trying to say is I really do have a good idea of what kind of struggles an expat might face.
When I was in Scotland I was also missing a community that would give me a sense of belonging. A place that would offer a safe, friendly space for people from different countries and cultures, who were not just looking for spending their leisure time together – going for drinks, cinema or cycling, but would present opportunities for supporting each other, talking about struggles, creating meaningful relationships. A place facilitated by professional psychologists and facilitators who had a very good understanding of those issues and would run development workshops or other events enabling deep connections with others.
Pandemic And Warsaw
The pandemic in 2020 was a turning point in my life and career. I came back to Warsaw and I felt very deeply that I wanted to focus on supporting individuals and groups not only as a facilitator but also as a psychotherapist. I started a 4-year Gestalt Therapy School in Warsaw.
I also started attending different events for internationals. I was very curious about their stories and reasons for their migration. Those chats left me with the impression that although the overall experience of their life in Warsaw was positive, some of them would have benefited from mental health support during their process of adaptation to the new country or just in everyday struggles and worries, like challenges at work, relationship issues, uncertainty caused by world events – you name it! It was the moment when I felt that I would like to provide support for them, and build on my own experience and a good understanding of the challenges as well as the bright sides of expat life.
Building on the fact that Warsaw was missing a place that would specialise in delivering psychological support and personal development in English for internationals (like you!), I decided to create a space where you can find empowerment, support and connections, so that you can live WELL in Warsaw!
